Wildlife Preservations

Wildlife Preservations, LLC, (WP), provides superior natural history exhibit services.  Our fine skills meet the demands of the most discriminating clients. We create dramatic models, sculptures, animal recreations and works of taxidermy. We build striking botanicals, ground forms, artificial rockwork and complete simulated environments. We are the wildlife artists of choice for many natural history museums, from regional interpretive centers to some of the most prestigious institutions in the world. Our clients include The American Museum of Natural History and the Harvard University Museum of Comparative Zoology. In recent years, we have expanded our business to include interior designers and members of the theme industry. We have created dramatic interiors and exteriors for hotels and resorts, restaurants and retail spaces, and zoological habitats. We currently extend our museum-quality services to approximately four-hundred private clients each year.

Wildlife Preservations is committed to the classical techniques of 19th and 20th century taxidermy. We loyally practice the original methods of Aekely, Clark, Horniday and Audubon, and we strive continuously to uphold the high standards set by these innovative masters.

The artists of Wildlife Preservations are avid environmentalists. We believe that there is no substitute for field observation. Our team has organized or participated in more than 700 collecting and research expeditions on five continents. As naturalists, conservationists, photographers, and sportsmen, we are intimately familiar with the natural world. We allow that experience to dictate all aspects of our work.

The Wildlife Preservations artists are well-versed in all areas of exhibit design and fabrication.  The staff’s experience includes structural engineering, wood and metal work, taxidermy, model making, and painting. Collectively, our team members have won over 400 State, regional and world competitions.

George Dante, founder of Wildlife Preservations, has over twenty-eight years of experience as a taxidermist, model maker, illustrator and fine artist.  He has been fascinated by art and the natural world throughout his entire life.  George began a successful part-time taxidermy business while in high school, and continued his company while obtaining a BFA from The School of Visual Arts in New York.  In 1996, George combined his two passions when he officially formed his growing, high school business as Wildlife Preservations, LLC.  George’s awards include a 1997 National Taxidermy Association (NTA) National Championship and an NTA Award of Excellence. He is also an NTA certified judge.  His sculptures, paintings and illustrations have been exhibited in numerous New York City art galleries.

Our new state-of-the-art studio is located in West Paterson, New Jersey, approximately 17 miles west of New York City.

Whether you’re a museum, corporation, or private homeowner, Wildlife Preservations is proud to offer a full line of turnkey services to help ensure our client’s projects run smoothly and efficiently.
